Get Your Written Number

Text over a few photos or walk us through the rooms on a call, and your flat rate is usually ready before quitting time.

Asking costs nothing, and nothing new shows up on the invoice once the truck is loaded. Someone on our own staff reads this within minutes — not a booking service, not a call center standing between you and G&B Moving.

Vernon fields most of these calls himself, and questions about winter scheduling come up almost as often as questions about price.

Two things worth knowing before the list

G&B is registered with Wisconsin as a household goods carrier, and there’s no rotating bench of day labor — the same crew members have been on payroll for years, not weeks.

Are you actually a moving company, or do you just find someone else to do the job?
We're a moving company, full stop. Dale and Vernon own the trucks, the crew is on our payroll, and nobody else ever touches your belongings between pickup and delivery.
Is the crew that shows up actually on your payroll?
Every mover on our trucks is a W-2 employee, not day labor pulled off a list. The same names have been running jobs together for years.
Should I worry about winter weather delaying a January or February move?
It's worth planning around, since sub-zero mornings and ice on the secondary roads are just part of a Central Wisconsin winter. Vernon builds extra time into the schedule for exactly that reason.
What would a two-bedroom move across Wausau run me?
By the hour, budget around $105 for two movers or $182 for four. Dale can also turn a set of photos into a flat number if you'd rather skip watching a clock entirely.
My Plover subdivision only allows moving trucks during certain hours. Can you work with that?
Yes. Vernon calls the community office ahead of time so the window is already locked in, and your crew arrives already cleared instead of negotiating at the curb.
Which towns does G&B actually cover for local jobs?
Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Plover, Weston, Merrill, and Marshfield stay on our regular schedule, with Green Bay, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Chicago covering the longer interstate runs.
I'm in a downtown Wausau building with limited loading dock access. Is that a problem?
It shouldn't be. Dale reserves whatever dock or elevator slot your building requires beforehand, so your crew isn't standing around waiting on a property manager to call back.
Can you prove G&B is actually licensed to move households in Wisconsin?
Documentation is available whenever you'd like to see it, covering our state registration for household relocations, our federal authority for interstate runs, and the coverage on every truck we operate.
My apartment complex wants proof of insurance before move-in day. Who handles that?
Give Vernon a contact at your building and it's handled from there; that paperwork typically arrives days ahead of your scheduled crew.
Do you offer somewhere to store belongings between a move-out and a move-in date?
We keep climate-controlled storage priced roughly $90 to $210 a month depending on unit size, and the same crew that picked everything up handles the redelivery.
How much notice should I give you before a move date?
A week usually covers a local job. Long-distance moves, or anything landing during a rough winter stretch, do better with closer to three weeks of lead time.
What happens if something gets damaged during the move?
Standard coverage runs sixty cents per pound of released value. Arrange it ahead of time and we'll bump that to one to three percent of declared full value, with a nine-month window after delivery to file a claim.
Does G&B handle commercial jobs, like a small office relocation in Rothschild?
Regularly. A back-office move gets the same written flat-rate process as any household relocation.

Two Founders Who Still Load Trucks

Over a decade on a Wisconsin Rapids paper-mill floor taught Dale and Vernon Bilodeau what a careless lift actually costs, and in 2011 they put that same standard into a moving company of their own.

One Number, Signed Before The Truck Backs In

A long gravel drive out toward Athens, a steep Rib Mountain approach, a downtown Wausau loading zone with a tight turn — the walkthrough catches it, so nothing changes once the crew starts carrying boxes.

Registered Carrier, Paperwork Ready On Request

Every job carries $1M in cargo protection as a baseline, and our standing as a registered Wisconsin household goods carrier is documentation any building manager or landlord can ask to see.

One Crew, Loading Dock To Front Door

Whoever wraps your dresser in Wausau is still on the truck unloading it in Green Bay, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, or Chicago — nobody gets handed off to a second outfit partway.

What A Central Wisconsin Move Usually Runs

Pick your home size and where the truck's headed for a ballpark range — we turn it into a signed number once we've walked the job or seen a few photos.

Treat this as a starting point — a long rural gravel drive, a steep Rib Mountain grade, or extra stairs in an older Wausau bungalow can shift the final signed figure.

How A Job Moves From Call To Keys

  1. 1
    We lock down access first

A steep Rib Mountain driveway, an elevator slot at a downtown Wausau condo, a gravel lane out past Athens — that gets worked out before a crew is ever assigned.

  2. 2
    We write the flat rate

Send a few photos or walk the rooms with us on a call, and most people have a signed number within hours, not days.

  3. 3
Your date is booked, not just penciled in

An ice storm on US-51, a closing that slides a week, a lake-effect snow band rolling through — none of it changes the number you already signed.

  4. 4
Our own crew runs the whole move

They've handled cranberry-country gravel lanes and tight downtown Wausau stairwells plenty of times before your address ever hit the calendar.
